A reverse vending machine is a machine for collecting packaging (plastic bottles, aluminum cans, waste paper, glass bottles and jars). The user places recyclable materials into the machine, which detects the material, recognizes it and accepts it for recycling. In exchange for the bottles, cans or other materials handed in, you can receive a cash reward or discounts.
To use a reverse vending machine, place recyclables into the machine's receiving opening. The reverse vending machine will detect and the items. After successful acceptance, select the reward method – money, a store credit or bonus points (depending on what’s offered by the RVM).
EcoPoint reverse vending machines accept plastic PET bottles up to 6 liters, aluminum cans up to 2 liters, and glass bottles. The bottles or cans must be empty (except for a few drops of liquid), the outside must be clean.
EcoPoint reverse vending machines can presently accept PET bottles, aluminum cans, waste paper (cardboard, books and magazines, newspapers and paper), glass containers, and used e-cigarettes (vapes). Actual acceptance conditions depend on the specific reverse vending machine model and its installation location.
Glass bottles and jars and e-cigarettes should be undamaged. Wastepaper should be tied in stacks, carton neatly folded. PET bottles and aluminum cans, on the other hand, we request to crush prior to returning them. For this, a manual crusher is built into or located next to the RVM. This is to save storage space. If PET bottles and aluminum cans are not crushed, then the reward will be lower.
